Long before the housing development and the shopping centers, Northampton Township was a community of farmers, with the village of Richboro as its hub. The potential for property loss or death from fire was low. Even so, a group of concerned residents gathered in 1914 to charter a fire company to serve the township. They called it the Richboro Fire Company No. 1. One hundred years later, the Company has grown into the Northampton Fire Department that serves a population of over 40,000 people. Today, the company responds to 1000 Fire, Rescue and EMS calls a year.

Our minimum age requirement is 16 (members under the age of 18 require parental consent and must abide by child labor laws). Yesterday, the A Platoon met with the A Platoon from Newtown Fire Rescue for apparatus and equipment familiarization and review on Rescue 3, Rescue 45, and Special Service/Marine 73.
Fleet Adjustment: Over the last several months, the NTFD has been upgrading its water rescue capabilities using existing apparatus and equipment, along with a recently acquired enclosed 16 foot trailer. The acquired trailer was up-fitted in house by staff for marine and ice rescue as well as drone operations. Special service 83 underwent some minor adjustments, including removal of the air cascade system, and now resides at Station 73. The special service will tow the acquired trailer, and also carries a complement of firefighting, emergency medical, and technical rescue equipment. The previous marine unit has been moved to Station 83 and will also be repurposed within the department. Thanks to the B and C platoons for all the hard work on this project!

For local residents, the main closure will be in the 800 block (mid-block) of Sackettsford Road, closer to Spencer Road. When entering or leaving the area, please drive carefully and watch for workers in the area.

Yesterday, staff and volunteers honed their skills on first-in engine company operations, training in forcible entry, attack lines, water supply, and driver training. Crews handled several calls for service throughout the day.
