Long before the housing development and the shopping centers, Northampton Township was a community of farmers, with the village of Richboro as its hub. The potential for property loss or death from fire was low. Even so, a group of concerned residents gathered in 1914 to charter a fire company to serve the township. They called it the Richboro Fire Company No. 1. One hundred years later, the Company has grown into the Northampton Fire Department that serves a population of over 40,000 people. Today, the company responds to 1000 Fire, Rescue and EMS calls a year.

Last night, crews were out looking for trick-or-treaters in the neighborhoods! Thanks for all those who came by for treats! This month was busy with Trunk or Treat events, public outreach and fire prevention. It’s always a pleasure to be in the community meeting our wonderful neighbors!
Daylight savings! You know what that means. CHANGE THOSE BATTERIES AND TEST YOUR DETECTORS! All detectors. Carbon monoxide, smoke, gas detection and any other detector you might have. Verify they are within 10 years from the manufacture date while you’re there!
Training update:Staff and volunteers spent a lot of time this month, both in house and up and down the east coast with specialized training. Some of this included advanced water rescue, vehicle rescue, heavy vehicle and machinery rescue, fire investigation conferences and instruction, and collapse rescue technician.
Candles can be a great ambiance, but make sure to be safe when using them! Check out these safety reminders from the National Fire Protection Agency and help us have a fire safe Township!
